To the degree that you are curious that you have a Self

peek-arent-you-curiousCuriosity

Remember when I told you, in an earlier article, that the opposite of fear is curiosity?

Curiosity is that, and more. 1

I have found that curiosity is the main component in aliveness… so it is also the opposite of dead, deadened, alienated, dull, and foggy.

It is also the main sparker of intelligence.

We are all born curious. Most of us kill our curiosity. Curiosity, what I call curiosity, is open ended.

Finding THE answer to a question is not the curiosity I am talking about.

Thinking that you need answers is the number one killer of curiosity, of aliveness, of intelligence.

Our parents, teachers, like us not curious, not intelligent, so they kill our curiosity.

At least seemingly.

You have the spark… buried, covered up with deadness, but it is there.

How you feel tells the level of your deep curiosity factor

The connection between misery and the level of your deep curiosity factor

curious-bookI am reading the book ‘Curious’ and I am looking at curiosity waxing and waning in my life, in different periods.

I am in the intensely curious phase. I am able to look at things that I don’t like, and I am seeing those things in a wide field of neutral or maybe even positive things… insignificant dot in the big picture.

The same things, in my incurious phases would drive me nuts, or depressed… maybe even suicidal. Or on a fixing campaign… ranting and raving.

Curiosity seems to be the factor that stands out the most between my miserable periods and my periods of life that are OK or maybe even enjoyable.

There are two types of curiosity, as I can see it:

Curiosity, Inquiry, Discernment, Tree Of Life…

…Tree Of Knowledge, Mind, Brain, Thinking About, Thinking…

Do You Know The Difference? You are wired to want to know

You are wired to avoid uncertainty, wired to want to know how it all works so you can be safe. Understandable. Makes sense… you must use the MIND to accomplish that: feel safe, believe you are safe, dream of safety, crave safety, shrink, become nearly nonexistent.

Safety is a myth. Life is not safe. Safety is not attainable.

Apple Cider Vinegar and other interesting stuff

apple-cider-vinegarLike so many things, guidance is a blessing… and a curse.

So is coaching, by the way.

You can’t catch what you can’t see, and you can’t correct what you can’t catch…

So, this past week has been, thank you for asking, pure hell… lol.

Why, what went wrong? It would be shorter to list what didn’t… lol

Now, apart from a 10-minute period, while I was on the phone with an overly tired and uncaring support staff this morning… I have been having fun.

Yes. Challenges? Yes. Hard issues? Yes. Expensive… Yeah.

If you love yourself you love your life.

80-20-principle

Good enough, the Pareto principle… how you get tripped up by the numbers

80% of your results come from 20% of your efforts.

This translates to a lot of mischief.

I just read an article, OK, I read 20% of it… lol… about China, and about chabuduo… that is Chinese for Good Enough.

The problem is standards.

Your 100%, the Chinese 100%, and my 100% are not the same.

Want to find your self? Express it? Be true to it? Be motivated by it?

brett-wilson-find-yourself-and-be-thatI started to read the book by Edward Deci, “Why we do what we do. Understanding self-motivation”.

This is the first book, that I know, that defines self the way, or similarly the way I do…

To become a person, to have autonomy, self-determination, self-expression, integrity, self-motivation, the most important job is to find the self, by distinguishing what is the driver of all your actions, whether it is inner or outer.

And if it is inner… is it the self, or is it the “not-self”?

Greed, narcissism, hate… area inner motivators, but they are all the not-self. So are all the “negative” emotions, like frustration, haste, the desire to fix, to punish, to suffer… etc. Continue reading “Want to find your self? Express it? Be true to it? Be motivated by it?”

It is exactly 57 times more complicated than that…

i-wont-apologize-for-who-i-am-2The current state of science, knowledge is “one size fits all”.

Just do this and this and this… and you’ll be happy, wealthy, healthy, and in love.

Every profession has their “this is the way, this is the truth” postage stamp size area where they dance…

The medical establishment, pharmaceuticals, psychologists, religion, education, and even the “spiritual” or “alternative” people.

I am a people watcher. I watch their behavior. I watch what they welcome, love, what they tolerate, what they avoid.

I remember I was about 30, and I said:

this is exactly 57 times more complicated than that.

Where do your questions come from? If you even HAVE any

blooms_taxonomy_pyramid_cake-style-use-with-permissionI am asked questions, all the time.

Asking questions is one sign. What kind of questions… that is yet another sign.

And then asking intelligent questions… well, that is quite another matter.

I am going to my memory now, and say what I retained about questions from the book Curious… that the better questions, the more intellectual questions one asks the higher level of evolution the person is.

But no matter what question you ask, the answer, if it sticks strictly to the question, will be on the same level where you asked it from.

That is a problem… Continue reading “Where do your questions come from? If you even HAVE any”

Self-reflection: Questions to ask myself

Freecell2I am sitting here this morning, playing Freecell.

Every game this morning is such that it takes no effort, no talent, no guidance.

WTF? What is the message here? If Freecell is my guidance system, and I have to extend no effort, what does that mean about me?

I am playing and I am thinking, probing, pondering.

Is it a reflection of my life? My life right now? That I am shying away from doing courageous things? Hm, that feels bad enough, so I must be on the right track! Bummer. I muscletest, and the answer is YES. Hm.
