How to make a commitment you’ll keep

making a commitment and keeping itI have had problems with my hip for the past 16 years. I have spent tens of thousands of dollars on chiropractors, and the hip just got worse and worse.

This year I had a recurring flash of desire of being a person who travels from country to country, while doing the work I am doing now.

The only thing standing in my way is the pain to walk, or even stand longer than a minute.

I have given up public speaking because of it. I have given up going out, because I limp. And because it hurts.

The recurring flashes of desire to become mobile again started a process of looking for a solution, if there is a solution.

I wrote to a client: Grow Some Balls! Man up!

feminine skills for menIt’s Sunday, and as usual, I had a profound conversation with my friend. We missed one Sunday in this past eight years, I think.

I had more insights than in a normal month… and here are a few:

1. We are bred to become soft.

The question you’d ask if you wanted to know if they succeeded with you is this: Can you take it? Can you take hard, long, exhausting, painful, cruel, murderous.

If the answer is no, or “yes, but I don’t want to” then they succeeded.

When things don’t go your way, when things are not fast enough for your taste, when someone is not kind and encouraging, when something doesn’t taste, sound, feel good the first time, when something takes consistency and consistent effort to reach… then you’ll quit.

Why aren’t you happy? What Kabbalah has to say about that…

According to Kabbalah 1 (I studiedĀ  at the Kabbalah Centre. Most Kabbalists disagree with the Kabbalah Centre’s take on Kabbalah… ) you EARN your light.

Light is everything that keeps you alive, everything that you enjoy, everything you value. Sustenance, sex, pleasure, fulfillment… everything.

Obviously you want more of it, and obviously you don’t want to work for it… unless you enjoy work…

Work here doesn’t apply only to work that you do to earn money. Anything that you have to do consciously against your own laziness, ego, dark side, is considered work in Kabbalah.

The Soul Corrections are a list of types of work, one can do to earn light. Tell the truth, face the tiger, reveal your dark side, let go of superiority, circulate money, honor, respect, care for and about others… lots of them, and you probably have heard at least most of them. You consider them virtues…

Now, like all useful systems, it works on checks and balances, and it can be rigged.

I tried it once and it didn’t work — pretending to want a better life

good bye survival modeThis is another article using Roy Williams’ Monday Morning Memo for today.

They say: every journey starts with the first step, and no one listens. They say: “I can remove your blockages to action, I can remove the fear…” and you flock to them… them “gurus”.

Are you stupid, or something?

Another great article from Roy Williams: The Measuring of Success

measuring-of-successThe most important sentence in this whole article is this: “If you’re not taking action each day, you don’t have a goal, you have a delusion, a wish, a fantasy, a dream.”

What are you trying to make happen?

Is your goal actionable, or is it ambiguous and vague?

Do you have an empirical method for measuring daily progress?

Empirical: adjective, based on, concerned with, or verifiable by observation rather than theory or pure logic.

Judgment: What is judgment? what is it really? The whole picture…

Judgment

Update: When we are on a lower level of consciousness, we think it is all about us. What we do, what other people say, our results… everything. So our “self” is always in danger of falling off its pedestal, and we feel that with it we die.

The reason: we can’t tell, we don’t even think, that we and our actions are not the same. We can’t see that we do something, and the results of those actions don’t change who we are… there is no real connection. The results are the results, you are you, no connection. Awakening to the glass ceilings we have…

growth is a processYesterday I did some teaching with some people and the stuff didn’t go through. I am at a point where I am questioning if anything can be taught, if any change can be accomplished, if the current humanity is even able to go to the next level of evolution.

Drama… your story… did it happen?

storm-drama-rain

What do I call drama?

Every negative, uncomfortable, unpleasant feeling that you feel, experience, indicates drama. A story played out inside you. While you are involved in that drama you are not involved in life, you are taking an entertainment break: your relationships, your health, your work will suffer as a result.

Some of us are even addicted to that drama: for all I know it creates a sense of aliveness for the morbid, especially for people whose life is otherwise empty, void of purpose.

Lower self to higher self, crawling to soaring

Knowing, being, causing, or being the victim of things.

In the Bible the verb “know” meant: knowing intimately. In bed, as a matter of fact. Or in hay… lol.

Today knowing means, for most people, is that their mind has heard about it. We are growing backwards.

Knowledge is power, information is poison. Why it’s poison? Because it fills you up, and you are never hungry for real anything… the poison, the make believe, the fake fills you up.

What the heck am I talking about?

Soul Work – are you doing it?

Goodbyes-are-only-for-thoseMy students say that I am harsh. That I don’t see the best in people. That I’d catch more flies with honey…

Yeah, I know. Flies love honey… but I am looking to talk to people who aspire to go to the next level of human evolution, and those people are not flies. They are not scared away by reality: they know it will take taking a hard look at reality that is not pretty…

I am a realist. Rob Brezsny is an optimist… he has a lot of honey… yet, a realist finds the work in what he says, and loves it. 2

Rob Breszny writes: While walking in San Francisco, I passed the Pacific Heights Health Club. The sign out front said, “Birthday suits tailored here.” It was a witty reference to the idea that working out at a gym helps people get their naked bodies in good shape. I’d like to interpret the sign’s message in a different way, and apply it to you. The time is right for you to get back in touch with your raw, original self, and give it the care and the fuel and the treats it has been missing. Who did you start out to be? What does your soul’s blueprint say about who you must become? Home in on your source code and boost its signal.
