Misweighting Bias… are you penny wise and dollar foolish?

Misweighting Bias… are you penny wise and dollar foolish?

It’s Tuesday and I just got back from my exercise class.

It was full today. Everyone was in post-holiday mode, except a few people.

I had a conversation with a woman, and had a chance to see how certain words, how certain way of saying what I have been saying lands.

I shared my story, how I escaped becoming mediocre like most people. I said no to coasting with people in my life.

Energy you need to create the good life and maintain it?

Energy you need to create the good life and maintain it?

how much energy do you need to create the good life and maintain it?If you want to grow as a person, or grow anything worth growing, you need energy. Lots of it. Continuously.

Physical law says that systems, unless they are very highly organized closed systems, like the brain, will fall apart with time (entropy)… Your life is NOT highly organized, because it is not a closed system. So in order for it to stay organized and effective, it needs a ton of energy to be injected, continually.

Left alone, your life starts falling apart. This is what happens during holidays and vacations.

Injecting energy into your life is going to be a crucial distinction you need to learn.

Success leaves traces… as in footprints in the sand

Success leaves traces… as in footprints in the sand

Success literature, books, articles, movies about success… are they worth following?

Success leaves traces… as in footprints in the sand

If you look at what people did, how they did it, the tracks converge and become the “strait and narrow’, exactly the way Leo Tolstoy says it in the Anna Karenina Principle.

So there is no wonder that I am finding articles nowadays that I could have written myself, if I were a success writer.

There are three types of success writers and success coaches.

How will you have the energy to grow? How I did it…

How will you have the energy to grow? How I did it…

I saw something today I hadn’t seen before. But before I say what I saw, let me dispel some myth: there is no such thing as bad energy. Energy is energy. It is good if you use it for good. And bad if you use it for bad. I’ll write another article on this: but I have the urge to state it here and now: there is no such thing as bad energy.

All energy is good… and some meets you and triggers something bad… But it’s you… sorry. Oops.

OK. let me start saying what I wanted to say: Continue reading “How will you have the energy to grow? How I did it…”

Non-physical pain explains nearly everything you do

Non-physical pain explains nearly everything you do
This article is dangerously personal…

Last night I watched a movie, Children of Men.

I remember seeing the trailer 10 years ago when it was a new movie. Then I never heard of it again until yesterday. That it is an accurate showing of where we are heading and where we already are. Continue reading “Non-physical pain explains nearly everything you do”

Growth is like chocolate working out the lumps by itself

Growth is like chocolate working out the lumps by itself

How to grow…I dreamed it. Or rather I was kept up by it…I dreamed BEING chocolate… Working out all the bumps and unevenness… And I knew what it meant.

Then I got up… ran to my computer to write it down, because it is so important… By now it is almost like an unreal memory… But this is how much I could capture for you:

The way to grow and growing into excellent is to keep making parts of you better, until there is nothing to make better. Even and smooth like chocolate.

There is reality, and then there is the map of reality…

There is reality, and then there is the map of reality…
Kamikaze or the Cowardly Lion

New distinction: there is reality, and then there is the map of reality 1.

If this sounds complicated, it is because it is.

But it is built of simple linear elements, so we can look at each linear element, and with enough examined, start seeing the three-dimensional picture.

Your map of reality is vastly out of alignment with the actual reality.

What will it take to steer your life to the good life?

What will it take to steer your life to the good life?

I don’t want to change you into my vision of you. Rather, I want to motivate you into becoming the person you are capable of becoming.

– Life Mapping (Bill Cohen)

Display and existence. These are two Landmark Education distinctions.

As I am looking at my students, the biggest missing is not intelligence, not diligence, it is these two distinctions. Continue reading “What will it take to steer your life to the good life?”

Your weirdness factor. How weird are you… or not

Your weirdness factor. How weird are you… or not

Weirdness Factor

One of Tai’s steps talks about the weirdness factor, your weirdness factor.

Only one student whose mother tongue is not English interpreted weirdness correctly.

What the f… right? Compared to what?!

You think that you know English. But your English is a personal English… what you mean is not expressed by the words you use accurately, and what you read is not what the writer of a sentence meant.

So you see, with words being such a flimsy, unreliable vehicle for thinking and communicating, the world cannot be a better place.

The troubles in your life cannot be fixed with the language that created them. 1

The habit of reading, nodding, and moving on…

The habit of reading, nodding, and moving on…

Talk about useless activity! Tree of Knowledge, mind candy, justifying self… all the bad stuff. Bad for you… keeping you exactly where you are… and if that is a bad place… then it keeps you firmly anchored to that bad place.

And it is the overwhelming habit of readers of my site.

But to make it even worse: it is the habit of some of my 67 step students.

Useless, waste of time, unless all you want is entertainment. Then I understand. Continue reading “The habit of reading, nodding, and moving on…”
