What’s your context? I just have to look at your life

The biggest price Positive Thinking junkies pay is this:

You can only have power in any situation if you are looking at what is so!

Why do I call positive thinkers junkies? Simple: they are, just like heroin addicts, unable to deal with the momentary feeling bad about anything, they need an escape from reality, at the expense of their life, their health, their relationships, their money.

When you are a positive thinker, your default context is that reality is just plain should not be the way it is.

For you it’s wrong, for me it is just what’s so… you are powerless, I am powerful.

Finding the silver lining is not available to you, until you see the reality of the situation. For example, yesterday I screwed up something and lost a lot of money. I saw what I did, I appreciated that this wasn’t a good time to lose money, and then I looked for a silver lining: it was a learning experience.

I always return to this two moments in my life. Seemingly insignificant moments, but turning points nevertheless.

The first one was when I saw a poster in a chiropractor’s office saying something like this: “In order to get to the next level, you need to give up who you have become.”

And the second was a poster with a dark sky with a tiny sliver of light showing through. The words said: turn your face to the light…

The first one is the principle of transformation: everything you are, everything you know is in your way of having what you want, what you are striving for. You need to give it up. Painful, frightening, but it’s so.

The second one is the idea of escape. Clinging to hope, clinging to “there is help”, clinging to being an effect, never a cause. The opposite of power, the opposite of transformation, the essence of positive thinking: the biggest enemy you have ever nurtured on your chest.

A Rant: The Frustrations of a Teacher

frustrated rantingRanting: I use the word ranting as a reference to the original Ranters, nonconformist dissidents, one of many radical groups in seventeenth century England. We live in similarly turbulent times.

This article will probably offend you. I apologize if it does… though that just proves my point, lol, not funny. My intent isn’t to offend you, my intent to move you out of your smugness, your sureness, your “I already know” attitude… So hopefully you can learn something new.

It is hard to have compassion for the person who is frustrated with you, who is angry at you. It requires you to be able to move, at will, from your periphery, where you live, to your real self, to your core… And that is exactly what you have been unable to do… So you will be offended… but now you know why…

So, here is the rant:

Most people will never learn to muscletest accurately. Why? Because when you unconsciously, unawares live in your mind, you will muscletest from the mind, and that is as good as a guess, you don’t need to muscletest. Whatever the mind knows is useless… for the purposes of deciding truth or false. Works or doesn’t… Should you buy or should you not.

What is this mind-thing? Most people (you) live in their mind most of the time, you equate yourself with your mind, you run the whole business of living from your mind. Your results are the results consistent with using the mind to live your life.

To the extent that you live in your mind, to the extent that you are miserable, ineffective, disappointed in life, people, relationship, etc.

Let me use an analogy: It’s like this: you wouldn’t identify yourself with your car, you use your car. You use it to get from place to place.

How much stress, how much tension can you handle?

I am going through a rough time.

A business I started 25 years ago needs to be shut down. It wasn’t a self-expression for me for the past 10 years. But closing a business is much like getting a divorce, so I was just plodding along until it is costing money instead of making me money.

It’s not very complicated, actually it is much easier, technically, thank a divorce: you just shut down the websites, and cancel a few contracts with suppliers. Continue reading “How much stress, how much tension can you handle?”

The saga continues: Landmark Education and me…

The saga continues: Landmark Education and me… and proof that positive thinking is bah humbug

I left it off where by 4 pm the day of my return from my first Landmark Education course, four people at the City of Jerusalem office registered into a course, because they wanted what I got. I went from misery to pride, a vibration of 35 to 175 during that weekend, or more specifically in that 15 minute exercise where I had the insight that I blamed my father for not marrying me. How my vibration went from 35 to 175 in a 15-minute exercise

My saga with Landmark Education – Part Three and how my vibration went from 35 to 175 in a 15-minute exercise

I left it off that I hardly understood any of the three-day course, and yet…

Since then I have distinguished (don’t forget, this was 27 years ago!) that mind-learning, understanding, actually stands in the way of transformation. Transformation happens as a result of an insight, but the mind is only capable of intellectual insights, and they are worthless, or better said: a dime a dozen. Almost worthless, lol.

So here we are, midday day 3 of the Communication Workshop. The sun is blasting, it is late August in Israel. We are asked to stand up and mingle. I look out the window. The room is on the top of a mountain that is surrounded on three sides with the beautiful blue water of the Mediterranean. Breathtaking.

We are asked to find a new partner to share with. My new partner is gorgeous. He is of Yemenite origin, a Yemenite Jew. Tall, wild looking, lean and sexy. We are asked to make a list of all the people we have a bad or so-so relationship with. My mom is on the top of my list, of course.

Then the leader, a fellow architect, asks us to cross out number one and number two from our list. I gasp. My father is number three… eggad… this is going to be bad.

The assignment is to say one sentence that would completely alter that relationship. One sentence? That is going to be tough.
