Can you be a creator and yet live in the machine? Yes, if you live like life is a conversation

My introduction to this concept, that life is a conversation was in October 1987… The month of the big stock market crash.

I was an architect in the luxury architecture business… custom vacation houses on the tropical islands… and suddenly the clients lost all their money in the crash… and the projects were put on hold.

I had no savings, I had no other income, so this new idea, that I have the power to say, to create a conversation how to hold the “I am probably going to lose this job and my income” with something other than panic and anguish… And I did. I invented stuff, sometimes hourly, and could keep up my sunny disposition.

I did get let go, but whenever this company needed an architect, they called me, per diem, and I survived and was fine… thank to this new way of looking at life.

Did reality change? Yes and no. The largest reality didn’t change. But what was possible for me, definitely changed. Continue reading “Can you be a creator and yet live in the machine? Yes, if…”

Invisible dynamic that has your foot nailed to the floor

Invisible dynamic that has your foot nailed to the floor

Do you get fixated on what’s wrong with you? With what’s wrong with the world? With what you want? With what should be?

Fixate or abdicate is the “normal” binary behavior. Neither behavior serves you… it serves the machine.

I woke up this morning with a start. I had a nightmare.

I was in some exam situation where I was slowly losing my ability to grasp anything. I could not follow the instructions, and then in a lecture I didn’t understand a word the instructor, a woman with a southern accent said. Spiritual Arrogance

Spiritual Arrogance

1-spiritual-arrogance-pict-1Humans have a dual nature, a dual nature that is the enemy of growth, enemy of learning, enemy to the survival of the species…

Arrogance and pride…

Arrogance is duality itself.

  • It says, on one hand: I already know. I know. I am beyond that.
  • On the other hand: OMG, I am so stupid. I make so many mistakes. I better slow down, and not be so sure.

We call the arrogant side “it” in this article. And it talks. And it knows. And it pontificates…

What “it” says it knows? It knows everything. It knows if it is worth it to listen, if it is worth for you to do. It knows if you can. It knows the future, the past, what it all means, what it doesn’t mean, what it’s all about, what is important and what isn’t. Continue reading “Spiritual Arrogance”

The third brain… immersion: the secret to mastery

The third brain… immersion: the secret to mastery

There are, in my experience, three thinking brains, at least potentially, in every human…

The first thinking brain

The first thinking brain, the mind, that is in cahoots, in collusion with the selfish gene, works against you. That is what creates a life of reactivity, full of fear, full of anxiety, full of sharp turns and devastating jerks. I’ve lived there… and I hated it. Trying without trying… thinking without thinking… how to activate the third brain

Trying without trying… thinking without thinking… how to activate the third brain

learning without thinkingUnless you learn reasoning, and thinking with your reasoning mind, you are locked into the reactive mind to make decisions for you.

But real accomplishments, being a leader, and inventing something cannot be done with the reactive mind… while real big things cannot be done with the plodding, reasoning mind either.

The job of individual growth is to make the thinking instinctual, that it flows out of you like water.

In the seventh year of my career as an architect and structural designer, I had enough practice and thinking and calculations under my belt that I could “guess” the dimensions of most weight bearing elements of a building, accurately. Guaranteed to make you feel happy: It’s all in a day’s work

It’s all in a day’s work

Of all the things I have ever said to myself, this is the most potent saying.

It has saved me from suffering, it has saved me from all the nasty feelings that plague humans nowadays: belligerence, entitledness, feeling slighted, frustration, anger, laziness, yearning, wanting, and more.

How? Why? Continue reading “Guaranteed to make you feel happy: It’s all in a day’s work”

Why do I feel lethargic?

Lethargic is a way of being where there is no energy to live, to move forward, and there is not even hope.

It feels like deflated, the life force that was there before disappeared.

Tiredness that doesn’t ease up with rest, a good night’s sleep, isn’t tiredness. It is probably lethargy, depression, or purposelessness.

Why meaning disappears… when the future to live for disappears. Continue reading “Why do I feel lethargic?”

How to pick an activator, aka a spiritual practice for the fastest raising of your vibration?

different-perspective

How to pick an activator, aka a spiritual practice for the fastest raising of your vibration?

This is an important question, that I have not answered publicly yet, so here you are…

What raises your vibration is the spiritual practice that you are being nudged to do by the activator, and not the activator itself.

Each activator works on a certain level of your consciousness.

I will use, again, the analogy of a highrise building to demonstrate how this works:

Most people, when they come to me, live, fully, in the basement of their being. Nowadays I have received requests from people that are, at least partially, on the ground floor.

Life is a lot like plate spinning… Are you dropping your plates?

Today I learned a new word.

Injecting energy into something… as a way to delay or avoid entropy. Entropy is the universal tendency of everything to move towards dissolution…

This is the nth time I heard this step in the 67 steps, but this time I heard the expression “injecting energy” for the first time.

If I missed it even though I heard it many times, how many things do you miss?

Vision, Values, Mission… are there any pre-requisites?

Vision, Values, Mission… are there any pre-requisites?

If you have lived a lifestyle that left you with no foundation for self-growth is answering the question… what comes first: the chicken or the egg.

You, people in this predicament have one characteristic in common: you don’t want to do anything that you cannot see the immediate usefulness of it.

Usefulness can also be enjoyment… enjoyment is useful. Enjoyment is an extrinsic value. Continue reading “Vision, Values, Mission… are there any pre-requisites?”
