So yesterday I looked up how others make spinach in Hungary.

To my utter surprise and maybe mortification, more than half of the recipes put bread into the dish.

That’s not how I know it! I can’t eat bread!

Both of those are hidden ‘shoulds’…

How do you think of yourself less?

What does that mean? Thinking of others? By becoming a do-gooder?

OK, I am going to clarify something. Something that myself don’t quite know how it works, and why it works that way.

So it may come out incomprehensible, botched up, and useless. But, in my view, it is worth to try…

OK, the issue: one of the measurements is to what degree your life is about you and your life… the words I use I borrowed from someone else… True humility is not thinking less of yourself; it is thinking of yourself less. and the words are ‘to what degree you think of yourself’… as a measure of humility i.e. how much room you have to learn and grow, how much room you have for the world, for work, for life… for others. self-awareness-2I thought I was going to have a domestic day. you know laundry, dishes, stuff. and watch myself, my emotions, and have a good old time.

The weather is gorgeous. My neighborhood is even prettier in the fall than in the summer. you can see far. and the contrast of the blue sky and the rusty color of the leaves and branches is really beautiful.

The thought: ‘I could actually be happy‘. The though of being cured. These thoughts were very present there for a few minutes. I made myself a nice cup of tea, and checked my email.

There was a note there from Youtube that I have a comment on my ‘Why are Jews smart?‘ video, so I went to check it out.

Are you stingy with yourself? Do you say you don’t deserve?

Are you stingy with yourself? Do you say you don’t deserve?

You may be. And you may be right.

One of the obvious signs of stinginess with yourself is that you don’t give yourself enough time to do what there is to do, enough time so you could actually ENJOY what you are doing.

I call this ‘homework attitude’, where you are more interested in checking an activity off your todo list than actually doing it, enjoying it, savoring it.

I am surprised this is just surfacing now.

Someone being behind their rent, behind other payments, or behind taking care of their health and the numbers are going crazy.

Getting to what seems to be unmanageable.

What do you do?

Your/my inability to be with what doesn’t work will take you there. Just give it time.

What is really the strait and narrow in real life?

I assume that the Bible is talking about strait and narrow spiritually.

And then there are sermons, and teachings, and mimes about it, because it’s not working. people don’t know what to do with it.

But strait and narrow is a very potent medicine. It could heal a lot of the ills that anyone can experience.

So what are the ills of people, what are the ills of society that strait and narrow, and its brother strait and deep could reverse?
