The results of coaching depend on the client

No matter how skillful the guidance, the teaching, the coaching, the results will depend on the guided… On their skill and diligence.

And willingness.

Any guidance, any teaching, any coaching is choosing. And when you choose, unless you unchoose something you’ll stop and flail and stop moving. Continue reading “The results of coaching depend on the client”

Why Is It So Hard to Change? A look under the hood

changeWhy is it so difficult to change?

I am in the business of causing change… Causing you to cause change for yourself…

I, for a period of time, declared that the context of my life was to be an inspiring leader of leaders.

How did that go? Not very well, I must admit. Continue reading “Why Is It So Hard to Change? A look under the hood”

Teaching the way a fig tree grows… from the top down

fig tree: growing top to bottomFor 17 miserable years I was an architect in three countries. Unfortunately I brought myself with me…

I was, for a time, part of a team that introduced a new building method: building from the top down…

I won an architectural competition with it, I also won an award of excellence for a building built that way.

The method may work in architecture, and it definitely works for the fig tree… Continue reading “Teaching the way a fig tree grows… from the top down”

How we spend our days is of course how we spend our lives…

I am reading a book, The One Thing. Tai Lopez recommended it, but I had been resisting.

But like most of the books Tai recommends, it does have a kernel of gold… Maybe more than one kernel.

One of these is what he says about will power. Quite fascinating and very useful. Continue reading “How we spend our days is of course how we spend our lives…”

Can you see without words? Can you love without words?

without word there is no humanHow deep does the rabbit hole go?

Helen Keller didn’t become human until she could connect things in reality with words. Does this mean that Adam and Eve weren’t human until they began naming the flora and the fauna of the garden? Yes.

Humanness is to put word between the thing and conscious awareness…

There is this popular conundrum. What was first, the chicken or the egg? Continue reading “Can you see without words? Can you love without words?”

Albert Einstein spoke about the levels of consciousness

levels of consciousnessI am very lucky: the questions my students send me have caused me to have a deeper understanding for my own work.

These students are often seeking new insights in their pressing circumstances from me. Lately it is all about making a decision to stay or leave, to let go or to fight.

It is a huge responsibility to talk to people who are looking for answers.

I am working on a new definition of intelligence.

intelligence and cone of visionI am working on a new definition of intelligence.

A definition that gives someone access to growing it. What we have now is, essentially, ‘do well on the IQ test…’ which is not really useful.

So here is the first aspect that is definitely growable, and measurable: Continue reading “I am working on a new definition of intelligence.”

Life is funny and fun when it is not all about you

what's funnyLife is funny… Funny as in tickles your funny bone. You chuckle.

Anything is about you, says something about you beyond just being what it is and it stops being funny, and life stops being fun.

Thank you to Wendy… one of the people who got the gene adjustment.

These whole issue of checking if I did it right could have been a big ‘not funny, not fun’ experience. Or serious. Or W.O.R.K. of proof that in am conscientious, high integrity, thorough, or whatever the f… people acknowledged me for…

But it was 1. a privilege to get to visit with all those people 2. it was funny. Continue reading “Life is funny and fun when it is not all about you”

Your physical brain and your IQ: can you get smarter?

the fallacy of the brain and intelligenceYesterday one of my long time students surprised me with sending me a ‘meme’ that had a quote from one of my articles.

No coincidences in the world… if you have a wide enough cone of vision you’ll know that.

We’ll explore the drama that is hidden in this sentence. Because there is drama, oftentimes tragedy there.

Sidenote: As I was looking for suitable images for this article, I was struck by the overwhelming confusion about intelligence, the brain’s role in it, meditation, and brain exercises. Most of what is written is horseh!t… truth value: 0%.

  • 1. So I’ll begin with the word coincidence… coincidence means two things happen that are not connected… (a remarkable concurrence of events or circumstances without apparent causal connection.)

Someone is born on 9/11… the same day airplanes are flown into buildings… and people die. The two events are not connected.

Human nature looks for connections. Human nature is to look in the mind for connections. Not in reality, in the mind, where only the meanings live. None of the actual happenings live in the mind, only the story you made up about it. Continue reading “Your physical brain and your IQ: can you get smarter?”

Is ‘talking about’ a type of mental illness?

This morning something pulled me back to bed after I got up.

I considered it guidance, and I got back to bed.

What came next was amazing: trips down memory lane, all centering around mental illness, mental stability, your TLB, and what was in common among the many people I remember so clearly, people I spent time with in mental institutions.

As an empath, other people’s feelings, emotions tend to tug at me. today 99% of what I feel is not mine… But before I became conscious, before I started to climb the consciousness tree, 30% of the feelings I felt were mine. I also had a lot more voices in my head… all talking at the same time.

The only reason I know, with 20/20 hindsight, that I was hospitalized not for what I felt, is that none of the medication worked… I wasn’t the person who was crazy, I just felt the craziness of others.

My theory of mental illness has always been that it is an escape… a hiding place.
