I am an insomniac in danger of getting dementia as a result

I am an insomniac. I was born this way.

My father was also an insomniac.

Occasionally I find ways to get more restful sleep and the longest streak of a sleep solution lasts for a few months, and then I have a new longer streak where I don’t sleep well, don’t sleep enough, even though I spend the night in bed, with the light turned off.

This morning, while I was researching something else, my attention was guided to a TED talk… on sleep. This was the second hint this morning to go and watch some videos… on sleep. But I have gotten, this past month, some hints every day… so it is time. Not my favorite topic. Continue reading “I am an insomniac in danger of getting dementia as a result”

Greasing the machine: the allure of winning

I once knew a woman in Landmark Education who helped me in many ways after I arrived to Syracuse 19 years ago.

She was “senior” to me both in age and in her job in Landmark Education… and yet often I coached her through some low times. She had a job inside which she struggled.

She once shared with me how ecstatic it felt to her when the cards fly off the board in the online version of the solitaire computer game, Freecell. Continue reading “Greasing the machine: the allure of winning”

What is life about? I mean life for a human? Your life…

What is life about? I mean life for a human? Your life…
meaning-of-life2What is life about?

What is the purpose of life? I mean life for a human being? Not Life, but life…

What is life about? I mean life for a human being? Not Life, but life…

There are two schools of preference. Two schools of priorities. The main difference between the two schools is how they consider your size, and how they define what is your “job” in life, what should be your aspiration. Continue reading “What is life about? I mean life for a human? Your life…”

Greed: Impatience, Hurry, Wanting, Forcing, Craving

Greed: Impatience, Hurry, Wanting, Forcing, Craving

Greed: Impatience, Hurry, Wanting, Forcing, Craving, Pursuing, Fighting For. Even What You Call “Loving” Is Greed. Sorry to burst your bubble…

And all resistance in the chest, in the pit of the stomach and in the shoulders… whatever the reasoning.

What is the opposite of greed?

I mean, if you knew that anything with any element of greed in it works to your detriment: it makes you miserable, and it repels what you are greedy for… You would get curious what is the opposite of greed, wouldn’t you?

Are Psychopaths happy? Psychopathy and predatory genes

It seems that the notion of predatory genes has stirred up some turmoil… and questions.

  • Some were arguing that it doesn’t make sense that I carry no predatory genes: i seem to you aggressive.
  • Some were worried that their lack of success is from their lack of predatory genes.
  • Some were sure Jews had many predatory genes. Why else would they be so successful!
Want to know how many predatory genes you have? I can measure it for you…

If you can’t beat them… join them… Turn into a high producer…

If you can’t beat them… join them… Turn into a high producer…
If you can’t beat them… join them… Or what it takes to turn yourself into a high producer…

Warning: lots of footnotes in this article!

I am Jewish…

Jewish people are not genetically smarter than non-Jews… In fact, no ethnic groups are genetically smarter than others. And yet, certain groups test better both on tests and in life. 1Depending on the learning culture of different communities, the IQ numbers differ tremendously. But, in my humble opinion, when you take the child out of the environment, and put them into a different environment, their abilities, their IQ will match the new environment standard… so it is not innate, and not genetic.

This is what is meant by: “all men created equal…” genetically. Not smarter than they were when they left the Savannah of Africa, not genetically. No, with regards to capabilities, it is all in the “nurture”, not in “nature”.

This is the results of my thousands of muscletests over the years. Continue reading “If you can’t beat them… join them… Turn into a high producer…”

Do your solutions tend to become the next big problem?

Do your solutions tend to become the next big problem?

I get emails wanting solutions to the writer’s problems. Problems that are part of a system… but the writers, and I bet you! hope the problem can be eliminated by a simple advice in an email or an article.

No one gets the iceberg metaphor, even though I explain it over and over again.

Why don’t you get it? Because what is not visible is not visible… And to see what is yet invisible to you, you need to learn to recognize it… But no sane person would want to waste time learning something that isn’t… how do you know there is an invisible? Because I said it?

It’s a Catch 22. It feels that you can’t win. Continue reading “Do your solutions tend to become the next big problem?”

I woke up today feeling good about myself… so? what is the big deal?! Right?

I woke up today feeling good about myself.

Why mention it? Because feeling good about myself is not as frequent as one would think… I could say: I felt better about myself than normal.

Feeling good about yourself is the basis of self-love… that being at home feeling we all crave, but most of us have no idea how to get.

It was, that craving, expressed yesterday by the participants of my workshop 2 to ferret out the issues of the self and brainstorm about a direction that could pull you out of the issue.

Direction, pull you out? Yeah.

Some 16 years ago I was doing a course in New York City, and I was commuting there from Syracuse NY, every week. It was the snowiest winter in my memory. One time I drove down during the day… normally I drove at night when the traffic was sparse. A drive faster and more confidently in snow that others.

And my attitude was: get out of my way! A mix of angry, hurried, superior… not pretty. And suddenly my car slipped to the left and slipped into the snow bank. Continue reading “I woke up today feeling good about myself… so? what is the big deal?! Right?”
