Birthday musings… What worked, what didn’t work?

Birthday musings… What worked, what didn’t work?

Sara was 90 year olds when she gave birth to Yitzhak… if the bible is any indication of what life was some 4000 years ago…

Some 50 years ago I met a group of Danish students, back in Hungary, on a train. We struck up a conversation. At some point they exclaimed: “You’ll never retire. You’ll be working way past your 70’s!”

I was still an architecture student, and I must have been excited about that… Being an architecture student and being a working architect are worlds apart. One is exciting, the other is not… That’s probably why I am not an architect any more. It was drudgery.

I am equally if not more excited about my current profession… and yes, I am 73 today, and I am still working… no retirement in mind. Continue reading “Birthday musings… What worked, what didn’t work?”

You are comfortable? you stopped growing, and started dying.

You are comfortable? you stopped growing, and started dying.

One of the principles I keep on repeating without it ever getting gotten, pretty much by anyone, is that YOU can’t tell how intelligent you are, and YOU can’t tell how intelligent a person you interact with is.

The general principle is
  • you can only see maybe ten points above your own IQ
  • you consider yourself more intelligent than you are
  • because are very dupeable… and you cannot see that if someone is a good ‘talker’, if they are entertaining, that doesn’t mean they are intelligent.

I recently measured the IQ of people in two of my programs. Continue reading “You are comfortable? you stopped growing, and started dying.”

Concerted effort? Phalanx? On what, for what? And why?

Concerted effort? Phalanx? On what, for what? And why?

There is ‘knowledge’… what you hear, what you read, even what you see… and then there is knowledge that is the result of what you do and observe.

Mind you, all knowledge depends on observation and actually accurately identifying what worked and what didn’t.

Because there are thousands of things that you can see at any one time, and it is hard to know what is operative and what isn’t, most people never distinguish accurately the operative factors, and therefore need a coach who looks from the sideways view where there are less factors to contend with.

What do I mean? Continue reading “Concerted effort? Phalanx? On what, for what? And why?”

The secret of your no-success. not what you would expect

The secret of your no-success. not what you would expect

I now have a mobile app. I am the most diligent ‘customer’ of it: I’ve now listened to my podcasts twice and I am still learning from them.

One of the things I learn is that things come back again and again… either on a higher level, if you are growing, or on the same level as you were last time… because you didn’t learn your lesson.

Yesterday’s transformation is today’s arrogance…

it reflects that people think they have changed, that they have arrived, and they can’t see, don’t even look, if they are accurate… or not. Continue reading “The secret of your no-success. not what you would expect”

Coaching, teaching, results – what is the secret of getting more results

Coaching, teaching, results – what is the secret of getting more results

A teacher/coach can have two kinds of attitudes about a student’s success or failure.

  • One is: I take credit for your success, and blame you, the student, for your failure
  • The other one is the opposite: I acknowledge you for your success, and take the blame for your failure. And then proceed or not, to provide what may have been missing… which can be many things

Both attitudes are made up… Continue reading “Coaching, teaching, results – what is the secret of getting more results”

It is not the smartest, it is not the strongest that make it

It is not the smartest, it is not the strongest that make it

Whether Darwin said that anything like that, or he didn’t… doesn’t concern me. The principle is true, whether a famous person said it or not.

In the evolutionary sense, it is not the most intellectual of the species that survives; it is not the strongest that survives; but the species that survives is the one that is able best to adapt and adjust to the changing environment in which it finds itself. I Can’t Be Happy Unless… How to get out of your own way?

I Can’t Be Happy Unless… How to get out of your own way?

prayer for messiah, the saviorHere is another example  for the unless (or-ness)… the distinction I’ve been trying to teach you, so far quite unsuccessfully. Why? Because it is really simple, but is really hard… and I am not quite able to express myself clearly yet… I am getting there, I promise.

Here is the article from 2011.

I caught myself, red handed, up to my chin in misery, wallowing… yuck.

I had been depressed for two straight days. It wasn’t someone else’s feeling, it was mine. It sucked. I mean, literally, it sucked me dry, took away my aliveness… Continue reading “I Can’t Be Happy Unless… How to get out of your own way?”

life is an iterative game. change how you play it

life is an iterative game. change how you play it

Thinking of life as an iterative game changes how you play it… Life. Positioning yourself for the future carries more weight than ‘winning’ in the moment.

I read that yesterday, and it immediately clicked with me…

Let me explain:

My methodology, my approach to life, to work, to transformation, to everything, is iterative.

Even in architecture: I was attracted to iterative design… the growing house… starting with just a tiny house that was designed with the big house in mind.

Iterative means: I start with an incomplete execution of an idea… and I improve on it after lots of testing, and go through this cycle several times.

I used that approach to raise my vibration from 35 to 991 in 35 years. Continue reading “life is an iterative game. change how you play it”

How your past self is creating your future

How your past self is creating your future

There is a Landmark Education distinction that no one gets…

It has a huge overlap with the distinction ‘you live in a world of your own design’.

This, the ‘you live in a world of your own design’ is somewhat like the Law of Attraction: you attract what you are… but much deeper. It is BEING that, not feeling, or thinking only, though you may feel and think it as well.

But thinking and feeling don’t create being… the reverse, the opposite is true. The thinking and the feeling come from your being.

The overlapping distinction, ‘you are a clearing for’ is almost the same, but has a funnel like feeling to it.
