A wave of suppressed memories, feelings surfacing

A wave of suppressed memories, feelings surfacing

I have been looking at the memories surfacing in the past month… allowing me to look at them, like you would look at physical memories in an attic or a storage facility, and reminiscence and then put them back where they were, or in the garbage.

The first wave was shame.

I dealt with tens of instances in my past that I am ashamed of. Yeah, yours truly… I did all those things I am ashamed of now.

I have also gone back and watched some actors I grew up loving, now dead. Some theater plays. Some singers. And wept. Good cleansing tears.

And I am not even on my deathbed… as far as I know… lol. Continue reading “A wave of suppressed memories, feelings surfacing”

When life FEELS empty and meaningless… because it is

When life FEELS empty and meaningless… because it is

I love this joke:

This dude goes to his rabbi to find out the secret of living long.

The rabbi says: simple. In the morning get up, do your ablutions, have breakfast, kiss your wife, go to work, after work go home, kiss your wife, eat dinner, watch TV and go to sleep. Do this every day. That is the secret.

Oh, the dude says. And if I do this I will live long?

I don’t know, says the rabbi, but it will feel long.

This is where the laughter of recognition should come in.

The overwhelming experience of a lot of us of loooong days and short weeks is what I am going to look into in today’s article.

Life is empty and meaningless… says Werner Erhard. What he doesn’t say: it doesn’t need to FEEL empty and meaningless… It is up to you. That it IS empty and meaningless is independent of you. But the feelings are up to you. Continue reading “When life FEELS empty and meaningless… because it is”

What does it mean: get out of your own way?

What does it mean: get out of your own way?

I am noticing a phenomenon that is both interesting and terrifying:

When people include themselves in their cone of vision, in their visual field when they need to answer a question, give a view of something, they literally become stupid. Moronic. Continue reading “What does it mean: get out of your own way?”

Truth believed is a lie… or how YOU block the flow

Truth believed is a lie… or how YOU block the flow

One of the important elements of doing the 67 steps with me is the first thing you need to pay attention in each step: what is the principle/principles in the step… and spell it out for me.

Most people will see principles where there are none. And then they send it to me.

But truth believed is a lie.

Only principles that have stood the test of time, time-tested, life-tested principles…

Unless you can see in your life that it is indeed so, you are repeating something that sounds true, but when you say it it is a lie.

Let’s look at Warren Buffet’s #1 principle: Don’t lose money.

How can you test that? Continue reading “Truth believed is a lie… or how YOU block the flow”

You got bigger problems than I can solve, and you best move on

You got bigger problems than I can solve, and you best move on

My estimate is that this global epidemic came just at the right time to show you that you have been swimming naked.

About 99% of humanity.

My students are not exceptions to this. The only difference, as far as I can see, is they took heed from me… on a Talk to me webinar a week ago, and some of them at least are using this time to double up on becoming worth a damn and be able to become more in spite of the trouble the world is in. Thank you for that, guys.

You have no skills, you are depending on bosses, depending on someone else provide you with a livelihood. Continue reading “You got bigger problems than I can solve, and you best move on”

The role of the size of your visual field in life

The role of the size of your visual field in life
tunnel visionTunnel Vision

One of the barriers to a successful life is your tendency to look at the world with a tightly narrowed cone of vision.

You only see a tiny sliver of what-is, and you make your decisions from that.

It’s like doing grocery shopping in a pitch dark grocery store you are not familiar with, having access only to a pen-light… you would have to look at everything and it would take you hours what would only take me minutes.

But worse than that: what you actually see at the light of the pen-light, you now drag it into your man-cave… your mind, and start chewing on it… or denying it… either way: You stopped looking. Continue reading “The role of the size of your visual field in life”

Are you attracting or are you repelling? That is the question…

Are you attracting or are you repelling? That is the question…

Why is it that most people, you,  who believe in the Law of Attraction actually practice how to repel people and repel what you want?

99% of all people believe in the law of attraction… or some version of it…

People write to me all the time, asking me for something. They want something for nothing. Obviously they are adherents of the Law of Attraction: the law seems to be saying to the: you can attract to yourself things you want by just wanting them. Ask and it is given… or something of that sort. Or if you really desire it… blah blah blah.

I have a few secrets for you: the world doesn’t operate that way. In fact, the world operates closer to what Charlie Munger says: If you want to get what you want, you need to deserve what you want. Continue reading “Are you attracting or are you repelling? That is the question…”

Your direction is more important than your speed…

Your direction is more important than your speed…
Direction is more important that speed. You may be going nowhere fast!
Direction is more important that speed. You may be going nowhere fast!

…In everything.

There is a very educational tale in the 67 steps that few consider life altering. I do.

An airplane makes an emergency landing in the jungle. The plane carried a group of engineers to a meeting.

The engineers developed a superior way to cut the branches and trees at a precise 45 degrees, and they were cutting a path with good speed.

A non-engineer passenger, in the meantime, climbed a tall tree and looked around He saw habitation from there… the path cut by the efficient engineers ran in the wrong direction… Continue reading “Your direction is more important than your speed…”

What do you see? How do you see? same old same old?

What do you see? How do you see? same old same old?

wheere is the beefYour primary goal is to look

I once did a Landmark Education seminar where the main ‘mantra’ was (I paraphrase the funky Landmark Education language for you): ‘stand in front of what you can’t see, and keep on looking even though you can’t see anything

Most impatient people (that is most people) latch onto something irrelevant, and stop looking. They are like a dog with a bone… There is no hurry on the creative plane… only on the horizontal plane… what you can see easily is most likely irrelevant, and a sidetrack, preventing you from actually seeing what is important. If you talk a lot… even if it is only in your head…

If you talk a lot… even if it is only in your head…

I am finding that the level of coherence I have enjoyed for almost four years is suddenly dropped. Dropped only 30%, but that is enough for me to experience difficulty in thinking, being able to write, to move through life with grace and ease.

If you remember, coherence is the degree to which your inner energies, especially your intellectual energies, thoughts, are music as opposed to cacophony.

Each one has a different level of coherence. Grace and easy and power are only possible when one is reasonably coherent for longer periods of time.

Every upset, every interruption, everything you resist cause incoherence.

My downstairs neighbor, the woman, is at home. Muscletest says: she is sick with the virus. Instead of resting she is banging away in the apartment, and when her beau comes home she whines, shouts, complains, for an hour or two. Continue reading “If you talk a lot… even if it is only in your head…”
