More about flexibility… What is it? How you get it?

More about flexibility… What is it? How you get it?

Sometimes people get an idea of activating a capacity that is so alien to their culture, it takes a good 5-10 minutes for the history channel, the ancestors backwards, to build.

No one in your ancestry possessed that capacity… so it has been non-existent for you even culturally.

It is so unfamiliar that ego doesn’t even know to protest. It is like a way of being that is totally unfamiliar… you can’t see other than special people, like kung fu fighters, or shaolin monks to demonstrate it. And, of course, Aikido. I have a book, Aikido in everyday life… illustrates how this principle looks in real life… brilliant.

Flexibility is also the capacity to be able to keep your balance even though the world is pushing you hither and thither… Continue reading “More about flexibility… What is it? How you get it?”

Are you flexible?

Are you flexible?

NEUROPLASTICITYYour worldview is hidden from your view, hidden from your awareness.

And it is, of course. Worldview is how the world IS for you, not how it seems.

If you have a fixed worldview, than all the King’s Horses and All the King’s Men Could Not Put a new worldview for you… unless you are willing to become flexible.

Cognitive flexibility has been more broadly described as the ability to adjust one’s thinking from old situations to new situations as well as the ability to overcome responses or thinking that have become habitual and adapt to new situations. Continue reading “Are you flexible?”

The future you create with your words needs you to…

The future you create with your words needs you to…

You create your future with your words… spoken or unspoken.

What is a future?

A future is not real… and yet it appears real. There is no past in reality and there is no future. Only the present moment, how things are.

The past lives in your memory, 80% is words, 20% is perception organs information. But even those 20% are “colored” by what you said about it.

I have had quite a few Irish clients who were disciplined by their parents, mostly the mother. It was a ritual. Pull down your pants, fetch the paddle or the ladle or the hairbrush for your mother… lie over her knees, and there you went. You knew what you did that didn’t meet your mother’s expectations of you.

I was beaten out of anger… and I never knew what I did wrong. Didn’t even guess. Continue reading “The future you create with your words needs you to…”

I woke up unhappy. Seeing only bad stuff…

I woke up unhappy. Seeing only bad stuff…

I woke up unhappy.

And you know, when you are unhappy all you can see what doesn’t work. and see it as big, monumental, maybe even tragic.

In my dream I attended a seminar. Lots of things were as I remembered: the people, the teacher, the girl sitting next to me. Only I changed. I got dumber, fatter, and with a whole lot less hair. One dude sitting behind me in the class even remarked me. The teacher called on me and shamed me in front of the class.

In one word: it was terrible.

So this is the mood I woke up in, and, of course, carried it into my morning routine. 1 Continue reading “I woke up unhappy. Seeing only bad stuff…”

The Tao of attraction, of anything. Business, love, respect, money…

The Tao of attraction, of anything. Business, love, respect, money…

I love watching movies, I love reading, I am a half introvert half extrovert person.

I have met someone (Ben Settle) with similar personality, to adopt as a teacher. I start my day with reading his email. And I always find some way to become bigger from it.

On some level, in some aspect, you need to be the same as your teacher, or you won’t let them get through to you… My parents were both so different from me, that I learned only two sentences worth from them, both from my father.

One of his teaching was a sentence that I misunderstood for at least 50 years… until I got what he meant.

He said:

let it go… it will pass that much sooner.

I just watched the Oscar nominated documentary

I just watched the Oscar nominated documentary

minding the gapI just watched the documentary, Minding the Gap. It’s about three boys who bond over skateboarding, and a shared childhood of abuse.

The documentary is made by one of the three boys. 15 years of their lives you get to witness.

You can’t avoid to look at your own life. No escape.

There is so much grief, in everyone, and it is so hard to recover from it. It took me a lifetime… And grief is not just beating, or molestation, it is everything that lands as abuse, not letting you wear what you prefer to wear, not letting you eat what you prefer to eat, not helping you with your homework, belittling every effort you make, forcing you to visit with your father even though you don’t want to, complaining to your child about things that a child can’t handle, the way to abuse is so many, that there is probably not a child who wasn’t abused one way or another.

The Playground has a subtitle: It is never too late to have a happy childhood. Continue reading “I just watched the Oscar nominated documentary”

Go beyond where you NORMALLY stop… Go to where…

Go beyond where you NORMALLY stop… Go to where…

Go beyond where you NORMALLY stop… Go to where the sun shines, no matter what the season is

I woke up disgruntled… (=angry, dissatisfied) almost ready to go into devastation (which is my “home page”) but it all changed as I sat down and began to write. What was going to be a rant, became a celebration.

I guess I am not stuck with, neither am invested in, nor am I resisting being someone who rants when I feel beaten, or slighted, or hurt…Most of my students either are invested (i.e. known for) or resist being angry… i.e. stuck with being angry. Continue reading “Go beyond where you NORMALLY stop… Go to where…”

This is one of those weeks: I am all talked out.

This is one of those weeks: I am all talked out.

And I rarely say anything twice. I expressed it once, and I am done with it.

34 years ago I started my journey from misery to The Promised Land… It was promised… and I went for it.

It was the last weekend of August back in 1985.

I snuck away from Jerusalem, where I lived at the time. Took the 2-hour bride to Haifa, took a taxi, and voila, my journey began.

It was a Communication Workshop. In Hebrew. My Hebrew was good enough to do work, but was pretty meager for transformational work, so it wasn’t till the last day that I understood a full sentence.

But that didn’t prevent me from having a breakthrough. Continue reading “This is one of those weeks: I am all talked out.”

Who, what should be your teacher for life?

Who, what should be your teacher for life?

compare monkeys and homo sapiensWho should be your teachers? What should be your teachers?

And why do you need teachers?

Everyone thinks they should know more, have more. Be right more. Look better more often. Have more liberty, more stuff, less annoying stuff.

But no one teaches you how to let go, how to become free… again.

Let go? Hell yeah.

Most soul corrections, in fact the whole of humanity, with rare exceptions, spend their lifetime compensating for some inane incident that a more intelligent species would have shaken off… no big deal.

But not the Bandar-log, the just out of the monkey evolutionary phase homo sapiens… no, they are not intelligent enough. Even monkeys are more intelligent… don’t be offended, I’ll explain.

No, homo sapiens finds its excuse for not becoming all they can be, for abusing themselves and others, in their rear view mirrors.

Where they see abuse, slights, no power, injustice, embarrassment, fear, hurt, powerlessness, no acceptance, what have you… and… Continue reading “Who, what should be your teacher for life?”

Do you know what you are doing? Debunking the myth

Do you know what you are doing? Debunking the myth

climbing togetherI don’t know what I am doing… but my life seems to be going in the right direction

Most successful people, if and when you ask them, they don’t have a theory, they don’t have a grand scheme of things, they are just doing what they are doing and it works. In one area of life…

Wherever they are successful.

Work, or health, or relationships, or money… etc. Continue reading “Do you know what you are doing? Debunking the myth”
