Taking away what doesn’t contribute: the Anna Karenina Principle

Taking away what doesn’t contribute: the Anna Karenina Principle

anna karenina principleHow does change fit into the Anna Karenina Principle, or the principle said in another way: the method of taking away what doesn’t contribute to happiness to make your life better?

Remember: the Anna Karenina Principle says: All happy families are alike; each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way.

The principle implies that the unhappy families have one or more things that make them unhappy, things happy families don’t have… That happiness is simple, while unhappiness is complicated.

In this article I will look at change and how the Anna Karenina principle, of taking away what doesn’t contribute can be done in the context of change. Continue reading “Taking away what doesn’t contribute: the Anna Karenina Principle”

Did I live? Did I love? Did I matter?

Did I live? Did I love? Did I matter?

did I love? did I live? did I matter? Some 10 years ago I heard a dude share an experience he had in the Caribbeans, that made him re-examine his life. He asked himself:

Did I live?
Did I love?
Did I matter?

What brought this up is this: all morning bouts of inner crying have been happening to me.

Inner crying is when the tears don’t reach your eyes, but inside you have all the feelings as if you were crying.

I muscletested and it’s mine. Continue reading “Did I live? Did I love? Did I matter?”

Dr Gundry, integrity, and self-love

Dr Gundry, integrity, and self-love

dr Gundry vibration 100I just sat through yet another video by Dr Gundry, (personal vibration 100) a medical doctor who turned into internet supplement peddler.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he were a billionaire already…

But when I ask Source about his supplements, and even about his formulations, Source says: only 10% truth value.

Does he know his formulations don’t work? Yes.

But what he is doing is giving people hope with one hand… and, with the other hand, he takes it away. Continue reading “Dr Gundry, integrity, and self-love”

Procrastination… Do his methods work?

Procrastination… Do his methods work?

Andrew KirbyThis article is about a youtube guru type, who now teaches classes and consults to eliminate procrastination.

I have a special email address I use to sign up to things I don’t really want to be bothered further on. Continue reading “Procrastination… Do his methods work?”

How do you model after a successful person? Emulate him.

How do you model after a successful person? Emulate him.

model after a successful personHow do you model after a successful person? You emulate him. But what can you emulate?

Do you do what they say? Do you do what you see?

They say if you want to become successful, you need to find a mentor and model after him. Emulate him.

I have a very successful teacher who teaches what he does: email marketing.

I am on quite a few people’s mailing list who are also his students.

I watch what they do. I read their emails. And I can see that they model after his email style, they model after his relentless work ethic, some models after his edginess, but none has seen or felt, or taken notice to what degree he cares about his customers. He says he doesn’t, but he does. Deeply. Continue reading “How do you model after a successful person? Emulate him.”

Is ranting gossiping? Is ranting complaining?

Is ranting gossiping? Is ranting complaining?

rantingComplaining implies expressing dissatisfaction about a situation or behavior. Ranting is all about expressing anger by shouting in frustration. And gossiping is talking about a person who isn’t present. So this article, at least the first part is all three. But it is also a teaching opportunity.

Every Tuesday I am on a group coaching call with one of my coaches.

I don’t like him. I say this upfront so I can watch if I have a prejudice… while I am writing about him.

Anyway, I have once written an article that I can’t now find where I say that even if you copy everything visible about a person who is doing better than you, you won’t be like him, and your results probably won’t be like his. Continue reading “Is ranting gossiping? Is ranting complaining?”

Your hate keeps you stuck until you learn

Your hate keeps you stuck until you learn

your hate keeps you stuckYou are going to hate this article, and your hate keeps you stuck.

Focus on what you can control, not what you can’t.

Why? because the truth hurts. And what hurts: you hate. Makes sense, right?

And instead of using it as fuel for yourself to go in the direction you want to go, you’ll use it to spill all your energies on it, you’ll say: she is lying, you’ll say whatever you’ll say, but you’ll fixate on it… instead of taking what I say, and use it to actually get where you want to get to.

How do I know? Because I have been observing thousands of people over the years, and that is what all of them does.

All of them?

I dare to say all… Continue reading “Your hate keeps you stuck until you learn”

Practical Magic: Do away with depression…

Practical Magic: Do away with depression…

Magic is, according to google: the power of apparently influencing the course of events by using mysterious or supernatural forces

How does magic work: still from google: Magic creates a conflict between the things you think can happen and the things that you experience. While some magicians would like you to believe that they possess real magical powers, the true secret behind magic lies in clever psychological techniques that exploit limitations in the way our brains work.

Well, if you had a clever psychological technique that exploits limitations in the way our brains (mind) work, what would you change? What would you use it for?

It’s a great question, it has only one drawback:

We do have a clever psychological technique… Continue reading “Practical Magic: Do away with depression…”

Your dark side is your deepest source for joy, contribution

Your dark side is your deepest source for joy, contribution

I have heard that your dark side is your deepest source of joy, fulfillment, yada yada yada, I have even taught that… but alas, I forgot what I said, I forgot why it’s so.

So in this article I’ll try to remember 🙁 … in my usual meandering way.

OK, first step: I google it:

Your dark side means that you have shadow aspects of yourself that you don’t want to look at and even less you want consciously work with them. Instead of facing your dark side from the place of presence, you ignore and suppress the parts of yourself that you dislike.

I call that ‘Face the Tiger‘… and teach it in the course of the same name. Continue reading “Your dark side is your deepest source for joy, contribution”

Feel powerless? What will it take to become powerful?

Feel powerless? What will it take to become powerful?

I have been observing that someone from Tallin, Estonia, a former Soviet Union country, has been spending time on my site.

And then in yesterday’s email, Vishen Lakhiani from Mind Valley announced a new masterclass: Unconditional Self-Love.

I don’t know what his wife is going to teach on that masterclass, but I know one thing: it will be, most likely, really beautiful, nice, heartwarming, and utterly ineffective. Why?

Answering that why is what this article is about… what they won’t teach you at Mindvalley. Continue reading “Feel powerless? What will it take to become powerful?”
