Caterpillar, what does it take to enter butterfly state? At least temporarily…

insight must precede application... caterpillar to butterflyYou can’t talk to a caterpillar in butterfly language: It won’t land.

I read my Rob Brezsny horoscope every Tuesday morning. I use it as guidance, I use it as a possible context for my week.

Last week my horoscope was:

Are you looking for inspiration in the wrong places??

Are you looking for inspiration in the wrong places??
looking for inspirationLooking for inspiration to empower you?

I woke up this morning pondering what to write about.

The cartoon of the inventor of the wheel who offers it to the knuckleheads who are too busy to listen.

And then one of my clients wrote to me. She said: customs make the Jews, not the Jews make the customs?

And then the idea for this article was ready.

The email conversation began with my client wishing me a happy Christmas Eve. Continue reading “Are you looking for inspiration in the wrong places??”

Want to grow? Master outcome independence!

Want to grow? Master outcome independence!

outcome independenceZen: Chop wood, carry water. An outcome independent series of actions. Outcome independence .

Western Culture: What is your why? Create big audacious goals, take bold actions…

One is outcome independent with an overarching goal of inner peace. Not now, not at this moment, but for life.

The other is outcome dependent, judging every step for the result it produced or not, resulting in misery. Continue reading “Want to grow? Master outcome independence!”

Your dark side is your deepest source for joy, contribution

Your dark side is your deepest source for joy, contribution

I have heard that your dark side is your deepest source of joy, fulfillment, yada yada yada, I have even taught that… but alas, I forgot what I said, I forgot why it’s so.

So in this article I’ll try to remember 🙁 … in my usual meandering way.

OK, first step: I google it:

Your dark side means that you have shadow aspects of yourself that you don’t want to look at and even less you want consciously work with them. Instead of facing your dark side from the place of presence, you ignore and suppress the parts of yourself that you dislike.

I call that ‘Face the Tiger‘… and teach it in the course of the same name. Continue reading “Your dark side is your deepest source for joy, contribution”

Why you feel lost when you feel lost, find yourself…

Why you feel lost when you feel lost, find yourself…

What does it mean feeling lost?

When you don’t feel at home in your body, when your feelings, your thoughts pull you out of yourself, you have a sense that you are, somehow, lost in the shuffle. That you don’t have any say in the matter of your life, what you feel, what you do, what you say…

You feel you are put on a roller coaster, and it wasn’t you who put you there…

How did it happen and what can you do about it? How can you find your way back home, to your own self? this is what this article is about.

Even cowards can endure hardship; only the brave can endure suspense… yet another principle

Even cowards can endure hardship; only the brave can endure suspense… yet another principle

‘Even cowards can endure hardship; only the brave can endure suspense.’ (Mignon McLaughlin)

99% of what is (reality) is invisible for the uninitiated. Unrecognizable. Puzzling. Mystical, Miraculous. Unexplained.

My programs, in part, are initiating programs: initiating you into these invisible yet very real mysteries. For example the 53 invisibles

Enabling you to see and recognize the dynamics below the visible layer of people, behaviors, societies.

And on yourself.

People are really mysteries for themselves… and even after initiation, they want to keep those inner dynamics a mystery, because, between you and me, those invisibles are not pretty. And they run counter to people’s precious I, the way they fancy themselves to be. Continue reading “Even cowards can endure hardship; only the brave can endure suspense… yet another principle”

What prevents you from getting what you want?

What prevents you from getting what you want?
When things don’t work, there is something that you don’t know.

One of the capacities an architect needs to possess (if they want to be a good architect) is being able to move their attention at will, and to widen and narrow their field of vision at will.

Interestingly, these are the capacities that are needed for a lot of professions, CPA, business leader, politician, scientist, movie maker, coach, and, although it is not a profession, for someone who wants to get out of the morass of the human condition, and onto the vertical plane of clarity, joy, fulfillment.

I won’t explain why you need these capacities for the professions although I could. Continue reading “What prevents you from getting what you want?”

Desire trap… or how desire takes you out

Desire trap… or how desire takes you out

desire trapDesire and ITCH are largely the same state… neither can be fulfilled, neither allow you to be happy… ever.

I speak about this in quora.com
http://bit.ly/quoraupvote

How do you get rid of a desire? You can only suppress a desire for so long. How can I search and destroy the root of the problem?

To begin: the question shows that you have a desire to be desire-less… very funny.

There are no desires that are good for you.

Desire, at its seed/root level says: I don’t have something that is important to me. I want it in some future.

Desire shows that you are living in a some-day future, and that you are miserable. Lacking. Needy. Continue reading “Desire trap… or how desire takes you out”

What is the difference between ‘I am’ and ‘I have been’?

What is the difference between ‘I am’ and ‘I have been’?

What is the difference between ‘I am’ and ‘I have been’? They both create yourself… but which is the right you?

I wrote this article almost two years ago, and suddenly it became as current as anything…

It is a great companion piece to my article for today: Continue reading “What is the difference between ‘I am’ and ‘I have been’?”

Go beyond where you NORMALLY stop… Go to where…

Go beyond where you NORMALLY stop… Go to where…

Go beyond where you NORMALLY stop… Go to where the sun shines, no matter what the season is

I woke up disgruntled… (=angry, dissatisfied) almost ready to go into devastation (which is my “home page”) but it all changed as I sat down and began to write. What was going to be a rant, became a celebration.

I guess I am not stuck with, neither am invested in, nor am I resisting being someone who rants when I feel beaten, or slighted, or hurt…Most of my students either are invested (i.e. known for) or resist being angry… i.e. stuck with being angry.
