Knowing is a lot like emotions… give you an eye-patch…

knowing realityKnowing is a lot like emotions… give you an eye-patch… or a virtual reality eye piece.

A student of mine reacted to yesterday’s article.

Thank You Sophie,

For being my connection to reality.
Sometimes it seems the world is full of pettiness and silliness and unreality. You are like a beacon of hope and sanity, lighting a path to clarity with relentless determination.

Thank you. I am grateful to have you in my life. And thankful for your patient guidance.

In your post today you said that seeing was more important than knowing, and you said: Knowing is a lot like emotions… give you an eye-patch… or a virtual reality eye piece. Continue reading “Knowing is a lot like emotions… give you an eye-patch…”

Just hang in there! Your reactiveness is destructive!

reactiveness, false dramaWhether you know it or not: you are reactive… It is part of the human condition.

Reactiveness: Hastiness coupled with easy resignation is the death of any dream.

Although you can kill a dream in many different ways… whether it is a dream for a superb business that allows you the time to work on the business and not in the business… whether it is a dream for self-expression, fulfillment, and making a difference, whether it is for fame and fortune, whether it is for health, vitality and mobility in your later years… you can kill it in many many many ways.

And god knows we do everything in our power to kill our dreams. Continue reading “Just hang in there! Your reactiveness is destructive!”

What if we are all mentally ill? All of us depressed people

mental illnessWhat if being fat, or a loser, a hapless never do well is a mental illness?

What if mental illness is lying?

I read this article on Medium this morning. The dude, Tim Denning recovered from anxiety he had for decades. A debilitating anxiety by testing himself in situations where he had been anxious, and proved to himself that he wasn’t anxious as a law, as a rule, sometimes he wasn’t.

So he asked himself two questions: What if mental illness is lying? What if mental illness is simply conditioned thinking?

These two questions changed his reality. Continue reading “What if we are all mentally ill? All of us depressed people”

Flexible, floppy. and rigid… which one are you?

flexible, floppy, rigid? What is the difference between people who grow and people who don’t?

When you look at people’s core we see three ways the core behaves:

  • strong and flexible – they will
  • weak and floppy – they can’t
  • weak and rigid – they won’t

Depending on your core you’ll behave in life… So what determines what your core will be like? Continue reading “Flexible, floppy. and rigid… which one are you?”

A smart phone does not reverse the aging process…

entrepreneur or notI know, I know, I stole that subject line… but… it is so funny. It seem out of context but it isn’t… wait and see.

The line is from Brian Kurtz, marketing master, whose message still goes over my head. I have to confess: I am not a ‘real’ marketer, I just have things I can teach, I have things I can sell, and I do the best I can with what I have… but marketing? I still don’t amount there to much. Kindergarten level.

And that means that business, marketing, making money is never my ‘one thing’ to focus on, never my ‘one thing’ I hope I’ll have time to do, just isn’t.

My one thing is… Continue reading “A smart phone does not reverse the aging process…”

How to become whole and complete? Like good soup…

What kind of soup are you?Tai Lopez uses an analogy that really talks to me. He says that we need to be like a soup. Our knowledge, our lives needs to be like good soup.

What does it mean to be a good soup?

You can’t make a good soup with just a few ingredients. You need a lot of ingredients to make a soup that you don’t have to make edible by crumbling crackers into it, or bread.

Some poor man’s soups, onion soup, garlic soup, ‘rue’soup in Hungary, are so uninteresting that you can’t eat it without putting bread in them. The versions with poached egg, cheese melted on top, etc. are the restaurant versions of the same soups… but the soup itself is a poor man’s soup. Poor as in not having much to give. Continue reading “How to become whole and complete? Like good soup…”

I am not ready! What if I choose the wrong path?

what if monsterWhat if? Let’s look at it, shall we?

You see, the ‘mind’ is only concerned with future… while it squarely looks at the past. Yeah, the mind looks in the direction of the future, but it looks at the rear view mirror…

And it makes its decisions from the past, past failures, past track record, past mistakes, past pains and punishments.

Moreover, the mind is only interested in the bad stuff… it wants to protect you from it.

I have a track record of 70% good decisions, and I can see what the mind is doing: it looks straight at the 30%… not at the good decisions. Continue reading “I am not ready! What if I choose the wrong path?”

Thou Shall Prosper: Know Yourself aka self-awareness

self-awareness, know yourselfThe Third Commandment: Get to Know Yourself… aka self-awareness

Awareness, and within it self-awareness ranks really high on the list of what are the most predictive capacities for a successful life.

Why? Because unless you interface with reality, with the world, with others, with what there is to do accurately, your actions will be misdirected… your energies are going to be used to fight windmills, and those are not the hallmarks of a successful person… in fact, to be successful, you need to use all you’ve got to live well, act rightly, and think rightly. Fear keeps you alive, panic gets you killed…

60% of people opt to think of the best, the best outcome, that it will, somehow, work out. Whatever ‘it’ is. they tend to panic.

10% of people opt to think of the worst… and they do whatever they can to prevent it. They use fear to be prepared.

30% of people sleepwalk. They never look to the outcome or the future or the consequences of their actions. They are not present. For the most part they are in their heads, that are, the heads, either in the clouds or in the sewer, but not in the present moment.

I don’t like panic. It paralyzes me, so instead I look and see what’s coming down the pike, and do what is in my power to make it the best possible outcome. I am a 10%-er Continue reading “Fear keeps you alive, panic gets you killed…”

Getting along without giving up who you are…

getting along without giving up who you areGetting along, working along, creating side by side is very hard… often hopeless. This article points to the right way that you can learn to get along… and have harmonious relationships.

Some of my students are working on distinguishing conflict… Telling conflict apart from everything that looks like, and maybe even feels like a conflict.

For decades I pondered why the Greek sages said ‘Know Thyself‘. What difference does it make if I know myself or not.

And I wasn’t alone. Approximately 99% of humanity knows themselves to a maximum of 1%, which is as if they don’t know themselves at all.

In my Starting Point Measurements I measure this as ‘self-awareness.’

So in the absence of knowing your self, you make up a self… and that I call your ‘precious I’. Who you should be… not who you are. Continue reading “Getting along without giving up who you are…”
