Only fools think they can get heat from a cold stove…

ringI put all my knowledge into my articles. I hold nothing back. I am not afraid that it cheapens my brand, that the knowledge will be, suddenly had by everyone, and I’ll have nothing to sell.

Why?

I read articles on other sites, and they are quite inane, with a nugget of gold here and there, but even that nugget is rare. And hidden.

When I realized that I was in the marketing and selling business in 1998, 21 years ago, I was in for a long and very slowly rising learning curve.

I bought courses, in-person, online, and most courses, if I could glean a nugget, I was lucky. Most courses I didn’t glean any knowledge. Why? Am I stupid? No. What was wrong with me that I spent tens of thousands of dollars and didn’t get the results I paid for?

I think I was one of those fools who think that they can get heat from a cold stove. Continue reading “Only fools think they can get heat from a cold stove…”

even a blind squirrel but a fat girl onlyEven a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while… but a fat girl can only smell the sweets

I am observing, I am witnessing the conversation in my discussion group. Great market research! lol. I find out what people don’t know. What people don’t understand.

One of the differences between animals and humans is humans’ are arrogant. Continue reading “Even a blind squirrel finds a nut occasionally but…”

Either everybody counts or nobody counts…

Either everybody counts or nobody counts…

20 years ago I had my first entrepreneur value profile done.

It was some 30 pages long… too much English. But somewhere it said something like: You don’t work well THROUGH others…

Bummer…

A year or two worth of training later I got my certification to become a value profile consultant. Then I learned to see all that the 30 page said in English (meaning lots of words) at a glance on a grid.

My starting point measurements report is a lot like that grid. It is more meant for the coach/consultant to know how to guide you, than for you to enjoy reading to indulge your delusional self. Your delusional self loves the many words… I have watched people get all excited about the book “The Life You Were Meant to Live”… because they picked out the words they liked… No growth.

The more someone is determined to remain the same, the more they like that book…

Sigh.

So today, 20 years later, I looked at coaching, both as a client and as a provider. Continue reading “Either everybody counts or nobody counts…”

Can you trust yourself? No, not yet… You need…

Can you trust yourself? No, not yet… You need…

Can you trust yourself? No, not yet… You need a Paradigm Shift: Own what owns you

I get affirmation from wherever, when I am on the right path… here it goes: I just finished this article, and here is my Rob Brezsny horoscope…

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22): Burrow down as deep as you dare, Virgo. Give yourself pep talks as you descend toward the gritty core of every matter. Feel your way into the underground, where the roots meet the foundations. It’s time for you to explore the mysteries that are usually beneath your conscious awareness. You have a mandate to reacquaint yourself with where you came from and how you got to where you are now.

Make it yours… if you have the courage… So you can become free. The process is more intricate than Rob Brezsny indicates, but it is also more rewarding.

OK, onto the actual article…

I have this very interesting and troubling insight:

People want to learn to act from their inner authority without ever finding out the bad news about themselves:

…who they have been being, that “told” them to do all the things that made their lives not work, or not work as well as it could. Continue reading “Can you trust yourself? No, not yet… You need…”

Principle guided life… but what principles?

Principle guided life… but what principles?

When I wrote the article about racial, ancestral identity and its importance, I touched on something that is not valuable for most people… because I didn’t go deep enough and I didn’t accurately identify what it takes to be proud of who you are, where you belong.

I got on the phone with one of the people who was very unhappy about that article… I was eager to talk, because it is near impossible to go beyond the visible by yourself. It is a whole lot easier when you get input… because what is invisible to you can be visible for another.

The conversation was fruitful… And the insight to me was: it is not virtues, it is principles that form the basis of a happy life… I will elaborate…

40% of humanity never learns. But why? They are not stupid

40% of humanity never learns. But why? They are not stupid

don't get stuck on a pageI have some students who are not keeping up with the other students. These students don’t learn. So much so, that after a whole year, they are still at page 1 or page 2 of a class… that is 100 pages… Of course there are no pages… but pages express more what I want to say than percentages.

It is the middle of the night: I got up to write this article, because I got the insight that has been missing. Continue reading “40% of humanity never learns. But why? They are not stupid”

What is your time worth? What does it have to do with your worth?

what is your time worth? do you value your time?If you are in business… or even if you are only selling your time/work at a job or freelancing, pricing your merchandise, friendship, advice, companionship, your time, your service is going to be something worth looking at.

A few decades ago I published a magazine. The magazine was free, the income came from advertising.

A girl whom I knew from before, who worked at the same architect’s office I worked, called me and asked if she could trade cleaning my office for advertising. Turns out she was turning tricks…

She came to the office, worked for an hour and expected it to cover the price of a quarter page ad, $200 at the time.

Why? Because that is what she got paid by her johns. lol Continue reading “What is your time worth? What does it have to do with your worth?”

Is desire really the Everyman’s Superpower?

Is desire really the Everyman’s Superpower?

I don’t remember why, but I signed up to Simpleology, Mark Joyner’s program. 1

He created a new comic strip, the everyman’s superpower, and, of course, sold it with the same thing he advocates in the comic strip: whipping up your desire to a feverish pitch. Continue reading “Is desire really the Everyman’s Superpower?”

How old is your body? Your biological age…

I had my usual Sunday call today… and the issue of how old is your body came up. My friend’s body is 90 years old… and though I am only four or five yours younger, my body checks as a 50 year old…

As I have shared before, some time in the beginning of August I realized that I was dying.

It had been a process that started a year earlier… with some dramatic happenings, including falling and breaking my left arm. It wasn’t the cause: it was a symptom. And by this August the future was obvious: I had a short time to live, with very restricted movement…

I have no health insurance, I trust in no doctors, I have no savings, I have no family to bail me out.

I had a choice to make: to live or not to live.

Life is an experiment. Unless you live in the binary world

Life is an experiment. Unless you live in the binary world

magic lampLife is an experiment. Unless you only have good and bad, successful or failure in your vocabulary

An experiment is always successful. It is successful at showing what it shows. Whether you interpret accurately what it shows or not… it is up to you. And then what you do with what it suggests is also up to you…

Do not be timid and squeamish about your actions. All life is an experiment.‘ (Ralph Waldo Emerson) Continue reading “Life is an experiment. Unless you live in the binary world”
