The conspiracy to keep you miserable, wretched, and limited

The conspiracy to keep you miserable, wretched, and limited

unreasonableHow everything you know, everything you ever learned from others, everything is being taught makes you miserable, and unable to become an Expanding Human Being

I woke up this morning with crystal clear upsight: if you have a because then you are wretched or you are heading to being wretched.

In the book, Snow Crash, there are two main characters, Hiro and Y.T. 1

They win the war that is waged against humanity.

Hiro is a hacker, and a master sword fighter. He fights to win the affections of a girl.

Y.T. fights because what else is there to do.

Dyslexia – the good news and the bad news…

steven-spielberg-dyslexiaUPDATE: I have some underachiever friends and students. I suspect that they may have dyslexia. It just occurred to me… after two excruciatingly difficult conversations in a row… where the partners in the conversation felt stuck, dense, and their level of comprehension is low.

Both are men, both are making a living in their own business, both shy away from learning anything new.

It is one of the worst things for me when I try to teach someone something that they need, and they nod and yes me to death, only to do the opposite or nothing.

Every human wants to make a difference, wants to matter, more than anything, and this flies in the face of that…

But maybe they are dyslexic. Hm.

Knowledge is power… but not all knowledge

Knowledge is power… but not all knowledge

the-only-thing-worse-than-being-blind-is-havingPeople want to become the person they are in their dreams…

They are not that way… obviously.

Becoming that person is like being a Michelangelo at the stone quarry looking at a block of marble and seeing if the sculpture they see with their mind’s eye fits it.

If it doesn’t fit, you need a bigger block of marble.

But no matter how big a block you choose, it will take two kinds of work to get to the David of your imagination: the work of awareness and the work of chiseling.

Chiseling is the easy part… honestly. I bet you thought that was the hard part. Continue reading “Knowledge is power… but not all knowledge”

Your self-esteem and your self-control: what is the connection?

Your self-esteem and your self-control: what is the connection?

duality-wordpicPeople, all people are puzzled and disturbed by their dual nature. You love and hate, drip with envy, at times taken over by desire… while you consider yourself sane, and nice, and compassionate and goal-driven.

It is natural to be dual in nature, and it is natural to be puzzled about it, be disturbed about it. If you pay attention, this is the main reason humans invented religion… to make sense of this duality.

The drive to suppress one side of this duality, to declare it bad, or a sin is part of human nature. Human nature is to strive for simple, obvious, and clear… to strive for certainty. A sense of control or a sense that you can control your world.

Photographer Removes Phones From Photos To Highlight Our Terrible Addiction

earth porm

How addicted are you to your cell phone? The real answer may surprise you. “Removed” is an awesome photo project by American photographer Eric Pickergill that highlights our horrible addiction to smartphones in a whole new way. Pickergill removes phones and other digital devices from his photos and as a result presents an entirely new photo—one that shows how much we are missing out on everyday moments all because of technology.

Pickergill admits he’s not above smartphone addiction; he spends far too much time on his mobile devices too. It wasn’t his own addiction that inspired the project, but instead a family he encountered while out taking notes at a New York café.

Netflix addiction

Netflix addiction

tumblr_nb6zw3lCGT1tvaq8go2_1280Netflix is great. The shows are what the shows are.

And Netflix, or actually the shows can become addictive.

I watch Netflix almost every day. A number of shows start out OK, but turn addictive around season 4.

You notice that you became addicted if you are craving it, thinking about it, wishing it were already that time of the say when you can watch it.

The shows became addictive, according to what I’ve seen, when there is plot change that turns the show into more of a soap opera than independent episodes.

Soap operas were always addictive. But starting a show as a soap opera is counter productive: intelligent people aren’t attracted, off the cuff, to inane twists and turns of the plot.

Why you have been unable to change: The Savanna Principle. Updated

tmpI am reading a book… 18% truth value, on evolutionary psychology.

What bothers me most is the air of authority these people that write books project… But, of course, real science doesn’t sell books…

Anyway, one of the things this book says that in the past 10,000 years we didn’t learn anything, because our brain was unable to…

And we haven’t been able to change our basic behavior… or our minds.

But recently I saw something that contradicts what the book says.

Why is awareness the predictor of future success, why not skills or knowledge?

shearling-coat-2The first few steps in the 67 steps are long, rich, convoluted audios. Why? Because no matter how long the audio, you’ll only get one little thing, if that, because the cone of vision of your awareness is as wide as a pencil.

Did I notice, did I take in all he spoke about my first time around doing the 67 steps? No. I didn’t.

It is like traveling in a car. If you look out the window, you miss the conversation in the car. If you take part in the conversation in the car, you miss the whole trip. If you read, if you are hungry…

The goal is to expand the cone of awareness so it’s wide. So you can see the view, partake in the conversation, and maybe even be hungry…

Now, that is, increasing your awareness is the goal… but how does it effect success?

Theta Mode training… first take

2009I have been under the weather… mainly because of withdrawal symptoms after I stopped drinking milk. Lost my voice…

But I promised to make a video, so made a first take… not very good, but it will hold you over until I feel better and record the real training.

I am also planning on doing a webinar or two, to check if the instructions are working for you… so wait for the announcement, probably will do the first this coming weekend.

OK, here comes the video

What is the bane of your existence? What kills your joy?

What is the bane of your existence? What kills your joy?

life-is-either-a-daring-adventure-or-nothing-5What is the bane of your existence? What kills your life? Your joy, your fulfillment, the love in your heart?

It is everyday arrogance.

What is everyday arrogance? It is simple, and so everywhere, all the time, that it is invisible.

You see something. You hear something. And you know what it means. Continue reading “What is the bane of your existence? What kills your joy?”
