Taking away what doesn’t contribute: the Anna Karenina Principle

Taking away what doesn’t contribute: the Anna Karenina Principle

anna karenina principleHow does change fit into the Anna Karenina Principle, or the principle said in another way: the method of taking away what doesn’t contribute to happiness to make your life better?

Remember: the Anna Karenina Principle says: All happy families are alike; each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way.

The principle implies that the unhappy families have one or more things that make them unhappy, things happy families don’t have… That happiness is simple, while unhappiness is complicated.

In this article I will look at change and how the Anna Karenina principle, of taking away what doesn’t contribute can be done in the context of change. Continue reading “Taking away what doesn’t contribute: the Anna Karenina Principle”

I am reading this book, Change or Die by Alan Deutschman

I am reading this book, Change or Die by Alan Deutschman

the three r's of changeAlan Deutschman says you need 3 R’s… relate, repeat, reframe to effect lasting change.

I hate when people try to do anagrams or 3r’s from their advice, but I’ll fight off my disgust, and translate for you…

Relate, the first R, stands for hope. Trust. Faith. Faith that you can and will do it.

He says that for someone to change someone else has the believe that they can.

The doctor, the therapist, the teacher. Continue reading “I am reading this book, Change or Die by Alan Deutschman”

What is the Promised Land I have been talking about?

What is the Promised Land I have been talking about?

the promised land signThe Promised Land… what the F…?

Yeah, I expected this reaction. And no, I am not some religious cult, and the Promised Land is not somewhere physically, like on Mars.

The Promised Land is embedded in our DNA… a new Man, fully godlike, and fully equipped to live in productive peace that was foretold, the thousand years of peace.

What is that? Continue reading “What is the Promised Land I have been talking about?”

How do you change yourself into someone who actually gets sh!t done?

How do you change yourself into someone who actually gets sh!t done?

change yourself change your lifeChange yourself, change your life. When you change everything changes.

That is the principle… But how do you change yourself?

And if you manage to do that: is that change permanent? Does it go as deep as your DNA? or is it temporary?

Great questions, disappointing answers. You CAN change yourself, and the new you will be temporary… unless the change is so profound that it causes epigenetic shift… which is rare, but possible.

Why change? Because how you are creates a predictable future, and for most of us: that is very ugly, tragic, and lacks what we really wanted our life to give us: joy, satisfaction, self-love.

If that is a good reason for you, then keep reading. If not… don’t bother…

This article is going to be, hopefully, the first in a series of articles that explore change. Continue reading “How do you change yourself into someone who actually gets sh!t done?”

What causes disease: a lack of ease, feeling bad? Can your health measurements answer that question?

What causes disease: a lack of ease, feeling bad? Can your health measurements answer that question?

health measurements show the 90%, the invisibleI have a number of people who subscribe to getting their health measurements monthly.

Today I measured four of those. I played Freecell in between to cleanse my system.

Of what? Of the previous person’s energy.

This cleansing serves two purposes: 1. I won’t accidentally remain connected to the person I just measured 2. I steel myself to the experience of being them.

What?

Yeah… When I am connected to you, I am, physically and emotionally merged with you. My brain, luckily isn’t, that’s why I can stay connected to Source, that’s why I can measure stuff about you. What is the lesson that if you learned it your light could shine?

What is the lesson that if you learned it your light could shine?

not too old to learn the lessonIt seems that there is a lesson to learn to all of us. The lesson that most of us never learn.

A few years ago, OK, I just looked it up: exactly 10 years ago I bought a bunch of books written by L. Ron Hubbard of Dianetics and Scientology fame.

I ended up reading only one of them halfway, watching a video, and leafing through another book.

I don’t like to be influenced much, and I especially don’t like to speak ‘Tree of Knowledge’ stuff… repeating what others said.

As a young woman, still a student, I lived with a philosophy student whose father was a famous philosopher. They had ‘classes’ every Sunday… he, his two brothers, and his father. My friend, Bundi wasn’t a thinker. His middle brother was. The brother has a Wikipedia entry, my friend is long forgotten. The 54th invisible dynamic

The 54th invisible dynamic

invisible dynamicWe, humans try to build on ground that has many many layers of invisible dynamic layers underneath. No wonder life is not working for us.

I had a ‘soaring’ dream last night, or more precisely between 5:15 and 7:15 am…

The brain state is delta, and the dream was as vivid as life, and it felt that what I saw can be done.

My memories of my past have holes in them, albeit I can feel the emotion, I just don’t quite know what happened.

I signed up to a master’s program, but the way the schedule went, it was jerky, and for months I didn’t make it to class, and of course I lost my tuition, and felt like a complete dork… when I saw how much my classmates loved it.

Running from one class to the next, always being in a hurry is not conducive to building passion… and passion, curiosity, going deep is what it takes to make someone who has no other reason: to learn. Continue reading “The 54th invisible dynamic”

Case study: My racket

Case study: My racket

gears of the racketMy racket, as most rackets, was created by some act of stupidity. The natural stupidity of a 3-year old.

I did the 4-day Forum back in 1987… and I learned about racket. Or maybe it was later? In a later incarnation for the Forum? Does it matter? I learned about it when I learned about it… long time ago.

It seemed to me that every complaint is a different racket, and I wasn’t alone with that. Everyone thought that.

Staff members’ favorite slight to each other and participants was: ‘That is just a racket!’ pronounced in a tone designed to diminish you. Continue reading “Case study: My racket”
